A Peer-Only Lunch for Senior OD professionals to Share Deep Insights and Shape Organizational Development over Coffee

    About this event

Join BCODN (British Columbia Organizational Development Network) for an intimate, peer-level lunch designed exclusively for senior Organizational Development (OD) professionals with 10+ years of experience. This is more than a networking event, it’s a space to reconnect with purpose, reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing our field, and engage in meaningful dialogue with those walking similar paths.

Expect guided yet informal conversations that surface the real dilemmas senior OD practitioners face. Sample questions we'll explore together:

    • How do you translate the intangible aspects of OD into tangible results that leaders value?
    • What strategies have worked for you in influencing executive teams or shaping organizational direction?
    • Where do you see the biggest gaps between OD theory and practice, and how can we bridge them?
    • What does "making OD visible" look like in your organization today?
This selective and intentional format is designed to prioritize quality over quantity, allowing for deeper exchanges and an opportunity to shape both the direction of OD practice and BCODN’s future offerings. Lunch, coffee/tea, and gratuity are included.

    What to Expect:

    • Peer-Level Connection: Share experiences and challenges with senior OD peers navigating similar systemic and strategic dilemmas.
    • Thought Leadership: Contribute to conversations on emerging OD practices, theory-to-practice gaps, and influencing executive decision-making.
    • Curated Engagement: Unlike large networking events, this gathering is intentionally selective to maximize value and depth of exchange.

Episode 1: The Curse of the 9-Box: Is It Silently Killing Your Talent Today?

A provocative conversation for senior OD and Talent practitioners who dare to rethink the tools we’ve inherited.

For decades, the 9-Box Grid has been a staple of talent reviews — the sacred matrix guiding decisions about performance, potential, and succession.

But in today’s world defined by agility, cross-functional flow, and fluid talent, we must ask:

Is the 9-Box still helping us identify and grow talent?

Join Valeriya Levchenkova, Organizational Development Leader and founder of Passion to Lead Consulting, for the launch of the “Holy Cows of Organizational Development” Leadership Insights Circle — a reflective, interactive event series where seasoned OD professionals gather to question long-standing assumptions and reimagine modern practice.

    Together, we’ll explore:

    • The hidden assumptions behind performance and potential ratings.

    • Why static evaluation frameworks may limit dynamic capability growth.

    • Emerging alternatives: systemic talent intelligence, flow-to-work models, and capability ecosystems.

This is not a webinar — it’s a Leadership Insights Circle, a co-created space where senior OD practitioners bring their wisdom, challenge assumptions, and shape the conversation together.

You are invited not as a spectator, but as a thought partner.

    Please come ready to:

    • Share your real-world experiences with the 9-Box and talent assessment frameworks.

    • Question long-held assumptions.

    • Contribute to re-imagining what modern, dynamic potential looks like.

    You’ll leave with:

    • A reframed perspective on how to recognize and grow potential in today’s world.

    • Practical ideas to evolve or replace the 9-Box in your context.

    • A renewed sense of inspiration for shaping the future of OD.Event Details

At BCODN, events are the heartbeat of our community. Each tier is designed with a specific audience and purpose in mind, from senior leadership dialogue, to professional development for emerging practitioners, to informal gatherings that build lasting connections.

Leadership Circles

For senior OD, HR, and business leaders

Leadership Circles are monthly, in-person gatherings that bring together experienced OD professionals, HR leaders, and executives. These curated sessions focus on peer-level dialogue about current challenges, emerging practices, and the future of organizational development.

Often hosted in partnership with centers of excellence such as the Montalbano Centre for Responsible Leadership, these events are designed to:

  • Bridge the gap between OD and business leadership

  • Elevate the profile of senior OD practitioners

  • Create space for thought leadership and influence

  • Provide opportunities for both panel discussions and social connection

Insight Circles

For early or mid-career OD practitioners

Insight Circles are quasi-monthly online sessions focused on learning and applied practice. These interactive events create space for:

  • Case studies and practice-based discussions

  • Presentations on OD tools, frameworks, and approaches

  • Networking for those building their careers in OD

Insight Circles are a welcoming space for students, new practitioners, and professionals expanding into OD. Members enjoy free access.

Social Mixers

For everyone in the BCODN Community

Social Mixers are quarterly networking events designed to bring the community together in an informal, collegial setting. These gatherings are an opportunity to:

  • Expand your network

  • Reconnect with colleagues

  • Share ideas and experiences in a relaxed environment

In some cases, Mixers are paired with Leadership Circles, creating a natural flow from structured dialogue to casual connection.
