The Post-Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA) is the employer bargaining agent for British Columbia’s 19 public colleges, special-purpose teaching universities. PSEA is part of a broader, centralized labour relations infrastructure that was established by the provincial government in 1993. Its primary objective is to support in setting a provincial bargaining mandate consistent with its fiscal goals, while providing employers with a degree of autonomy. PSEA is one of six public sector employers’ associations in BC.
An opportunity exists to join PSEA in the role of Director of Learning and Development. The Director will have overall leadership responsibility for PSEA’s learning and development strategy. This program is a critical pillar of PSEA’s strategic plan and a key area of growth moving forward, with great support within the organization. To achieve this, the Director will report to the Senior Director of Legal Services and will work collaboratively across the organization and its member institutions. The Director will ensure PSEA’s member institutions have access to learning opportunities that support institutional and sectoral objectives and are aligned with changes in the post-secondary environment and evolving strategic priorities. The Director will further provide support to, and leverage the talents of, a key Board Committee (Standing Committee on Human Resources Practices).
Your related experience may have been gained from a wide array of organizations: the post-secondary or educational sectors, a member-based association, a professional regulatory body, or another organization for whom the development and success of others is key. Knowledge and understanding of public sector labour relations in British Columbia including applicable legislation is a significant asset.
Working with a great team in a supportive and collaborative environment, this role is perfect for a self-directed and highly collaborative leader who is equally comfortable with strategic program development, oversight of the finer details of execution, and the work involved in delivering select programs/training. Based in Vancouver, BC, the position offers the option of a hybrid work schedule.
