The Power of Both/And Thinking via Polarity Management

November 18, 2020 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

$5 – $20

Are you able to identify and integrate opposite tensions such as structure and flexibility, stability and change, and control and chaos? What are your current tensions?

This interactive session explores the importance for leaders to expand their perspective taking abilities by becoming aware of polarities and developing a polarity management competency to better meet the challenges of a VUCA environment.

Polarity management helps leaders move from an either/or mindset to a both/and mindset, which allows them to lead from a more inclusive perspective. During this session, you will learn to recognize the differences between problems to solve and polarities to manage, gain an understanding of polarity management, and engage in the development of a polarity map and action steps.

Learning goals:

  • recognize the differences between problems to solve and polarities to manage
  • gain an understanding of polarity management
  • identify polarities and their upsides and downsides
  • know how to build a polarity map
  • identify how to use polarity management in the work environment.

Who should attend?

Internal and external OD practitioners, senior consultants, HR professionals, leaders, managers – anyone who is interested in learning about a way to address unsolvable problems in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world.
